Merfolk

Believed to once be Elves warped by Abyssal magic, the Merfolk are fish like aquatic beings who live mostly in the oceans south of Innadell in Onaria.  Merfolk are extremely hostile to other species with the notable exception of the Elves who worship them as a manifestation of the chaos god of the Abyss.

During The Great War, the Fae war fleet held massive naval supremacy, sailing down the south east coast of Onaria they came to burn the Elven and Human cities in the south.  However the Merfolk attacked and sank every ship in a chaotic slaughter, an event still commemorated as divinely ordained by the Elves.  The Elves worship the Merfolk by giving them huge tribute on a festival day every year, an act which keeps the Merfolk from attack Elves and by proxy Alliance ships and coastal cities.
